Simon Letourneau is a recent immigrant to Toronto from Paris (the France one, not the Ontario one). Besides playing bass in one of our favourite bands Hellshovel, he's also part of the international photo collective Get the Picture, along with Paul Kwiatowsky, Simon Kossoff, Marcus Haydock, and some other fine chaps. When we asked him to submit for our Photo Issue he sent us these totally sweet pics that examine the weirdness of Canada from an outsider's perspective. Here's what he had to say about them.

"Since I moved here, I started working on a series entitled "Abstract Canada." The main idea behind it is looking at Canada with foreign eyes and expectations—French ones in my case—and realizing the most common things can look very strange due to the slight twisty differences compared to what I'm used to seeing everyday in France. Like, when you stare at an object for a long time on acid and it starts looking so weird and unreal, or when you repeat the same word until it sounds like a meaningless pure form."

Enjoy!
